Cross V Dorsey .

On Friday night we played neighbours Dorsey in the next round of the junior league .
It was Michael McConville’s men who were first on the scoresheet . Points from Kevin McShane and John Murtagh in the opening minutes helped us to settle .
A fine ball from John Murtagh to Micéal Traynor in the 7th minute resulted in our first goal of the match thanks to a great finish by Micéal
Dorsey responded with two quick points before our second goal came thanks to a superb strike by Cormac Donnelly . Points from Colin O’Connor and Kevin McShane preceded our third goal which helped us to build up a significant lead but again Dorsey bounced back with a goal .
In the final minutes of the first half we extended our lead with points from John Murtagh and Cormac Donnelly getting his second goal of the game .
Dorsey started the second half the brightest with two quick points in the opening minutes but a point each from Calum Cumiskey and John Murtagh helped to build up our lead . Despite Dorsey getting their second goal of the match we pushed on , six points in the last ten minutes , one an excellent point from corner back Johnny McKeever helped to seal the victory .
A great team performance which saw Aaron Moysten in the backs , Cormac Donnelly and John Murtagh in the forwards excelling .

Senior: The Senior panel took on Lower Creggan, in Cullyhanna on Saturday evening past. Crossmaglen got off to a strong start, knocking points over from distance, against the wind. The Creggan side were quick to respond, and they tightened their defences. Crossmaglen had to widen their field of play, bringing the ball in and working it back to produce some nice scores. It was an impressive game of football from both sides, but Crossmaglen were victorious at the final whistle, the score was 2.21 to 2.09. The senior team go on to meet Dromintee in the next round. Training continues for all the U16, Minor & Senior Ladies and commitment for the next few weeks is essential.

U16: Training continues this week for the U16s. With exams finished up and summer holidays in full swing we are encouraging the girls to give 100% commitment for the next few weeks. We will be playing our next round of the championship shortly, and the work we put in now will show on the field. Shannon & Paul have been working hard with this group of girls and we are hoping that the season continues, this team is unbeaten in 8 consecutive games, so let’s keep it up.

U12: Training continues this week on Monday and Thursday evening. All new players are welcome, and we encourage any girl P4 and up to come along. Anyone who is younger than this can of course join theU6, U8 and U10 boys sessions and take part in their competitions.
