U21 Championship

Clann Éireann V Cross

We travelled to Lurgan on Sunday afternoon to play Clann Éireann in our first game of the U21 Championship .
A close encounter meant that there was never much between the sides .
Rían O’Neill converted a free in the opening seconds of the game to get the scoring underway. Clann Éireann levelled matters minutes later . Both sides exchanged points , Micéal McCabe the scorer for us .
Rían got his second point of the game just before the referee awarded Clann Éireann a penalty . A superb save from goalkeeper Tiarnan McConville kept us in front .
A long range point from Clann Éireann midway through the first half left the score at three a piece  . Two points in quick succession from Micéal McCabe and Oisín O’Neill edged us in front once again . Clann Éireann got the next three scores to give them the lead for the first time but as the game entered the final stages of the first half , points from Johnny McKeever , Calumn Kierans and an exhibition score from a sideline kick from the boot of Oisín O’Neill left us ahead by the two at the break.
Points from Daniel Cunningham and Oisín O’Neill in the opening minutes of the second half extended our lead but Clann Éireann responded getting four points in the next ten minutes to leave it level once again . Midway through the second half , Oisín O’Neill scored a point to put us in front once again . Clann Éireann converted a free and once again we were on level par . Micéal McCabe scored a point with seven minutes to go but Clann Éireann scored two more points  and as the game entered injury time we trailed by a point but a great score from Oisín O’Neill , his fifth point of the match left the game all square as the final whistle blew .
