Crossmaglen Rangers Club Notes 01/07/19

Armagh U16.5 Championship QF
Cross V Killeavy
Thursday evening our U16.5 squad faced Killeavy in the quarter final of the Armagh Championship.
Our boys were quick off the block, three  points one after the other in the opening minutes to give us an early lead.
Killeavy scored two points  in quick succession to narrow the the gap to one.
A Pearse Blessing point as the first quarter drew to a close extended our lead to two.
Both sides had missed opportunities before James Teelan was pulled down and a penalty was awarded. James shot was saved but the ball rebounded and Ronan Fitzpatrick booted in into the net to give us our first goal of the night.
We took control of the game scoring a further 1-6 (James Teelan, goal scorer) and with minutes remaining until the break we had a strong lead.
A Killeavy point was added onto the scoreboard to leave the score at halftime.
Cross 2-10 Killeavy 0-4

Killeavy started the half strong, three points without reply to reduce the huge deficit.
Both sides exchanged points as the game entered the last quarter.
Killeavy converted a free before our third goal of the match, a fantastic run by Bernard Cassidy down the middle who offloaded the ball to James Teelan who hit a superb shot into the roof of the Killeavy net.
The final ten minute of the game saw us score a further 3-1 (James Teelan, 2-0, 1P & Caloan Finnegan 1-0)
A Killeavy point as the game entered injury time brought the scoring to a close.
It was a fantastic all round  team performance.
Well done to the entire squad and management.
Cross 6-12 Killeavy 0-09

Cross V Silverbridge
On Friday evening we played hosts to neighbours, Silverbridge Harps in the Armagh Senior football league.
Silverbridge settled quickly, scoring 1-3 before we scored a point in the twelfth minute to get us off the mark. This was to be the pattern of the game where we were always playing catch up.
Silverbridge reinforced their lead with two points in as many minutes.
As the half entered the last ten minutes, some super scores from both teams resulted in three points a piece.
A Seanie McConville point was to be the last score of the half.
Cross 0-5  Silverbridge 1-8
Silverbridge started the second half the same way they started the game,  those first minutes of the second period saw the away side score 1-2 to extend their already strong lead. Points for Aaron and Seanie were quickly followed by Silverbridge’s third goal and two points to add to their tally. Both sides traded points before the final whistle blew to leave the score at full time;
Cross 0-08 Silverbridge Harps  3-13
Hard luck lads/management
