Armagh Junior Championship Final

Cross V Belleek

All roads led to the Athletic Grounds on Sunday for the junior championship final. The opening minutes  saw us quick off the blocks, two points to give us an early lead. Two points a piece just before the first water break left it 0-4 to 0-2 . As play resumed, Belleek got to grips  with the game,  three points one after another and for the first time,  they had the lead in the match. Eoin Keenan levelled matters just as half time approached. A goal was certainly on the cards as the game entered injured time but Stephen Morgan pulled off a super save. Just before the whistle blew, Belleeks slotted over a point to edge them in front;

Cross 0-5 Belleek 0-6

The opening minutes of the second half saw both sides add a point to the scoreboard. Belleek quickly added another point from play. Both sides had missed opportunities and at the second water break, two was the difference. Belleek stretched it to a three point lead just after the game had restarted. A Paul Mckeown point brought it back to two followed by a super score from substitute, Oisin Doyle. The bare minunum was the difference as the clock ticked down and it looked like a draw could be the result. Belleek responded, they fired over two points in as many minutes to put themselves  in a comfortable position as the game entered injury time. The scoring of the night closed with a point  from both teams to leave the score at full time;

Cross 0-9 Belleek 0-12.

Hard luck lads, it wasn’t our day. Congratulations to Belleek.
