SFL Div 1A

Granemore V Cross

On Saturday evening we travelled to Granemore for our Senior league fixture.
We got off to a blistering start scoring five points in as many minutes. Seconds after Granemore’s opening point, a super pass from Mickey McNamee to Mel Boyce who kicked the ball into the back of the Granemore net to give us our first goal of the night. Both sides scored two points each just before the half way point of the first half.
Points from Stephen Morris and Rían O’Neill (2) strengthened our lead. As the game entered injury time Granemore converted two frees and three points from us in quick succession left the score at half time;
Granemore 0-05 Cross 1-13
The second half was a highly entertaining encounter which saw some fine scores from both sides and an excellent display from our number one, Jamie McEvoy.
It began similar to how the game had commenced with us scoring four points in the opening minutes. Granemore responded scoring a trio of points, (1,F) to reduce the deficit but we pushed on and what can only be described as an acrobatic finish by Rían O’Neill resulted in our second goal of the match.
Granemore scored a point before we scored our third goal which put us in a commanding finish with just a little over ten to go on the clock.
The closing ten minutes of the game saw Granemore score 1-05. Points from Micéal McCabe and Colin O’Connor in the final minutes of the match helped to secure the victory for us.
Granemore 1-14 Cross 3-19
Well done lads and management.
