Crossmaglen Rangers Club Notes 08/07/19

Crossmaglen Rangers Golf Classic 2019 Sponsored By Killycard Developments.
Our Annual Golf Classic took place at Concra Wood golf course, Castleblayney last Thursday and Friday.
Seventy teams hailing from across Ireland and abroad took part in our annual golf Classic which once again was sponsored by Killycard Developments.
It was a great days golf  and a great days craic.
Huge praise for our Golf Committee who worked tirelessly in the lead up and during the golf classic.
Many thanks to all the golfers, especially those who travelled long distances to be with us, to everyone who sponsored a tee box, Concra Wood for all your assistance and expertise which ensured the day was such a success, to the View Restaurant for your hospitality and finally a huge thank you to Eugene and the Hanratty family for your sponsorship and ongoing support for the club.
We look forward to doing it all again in 2020.

Cross V Ballymacnab
Friday night we played hosts to Ballymacnab. Two points from Rían in the opening minutes, one a free converted opened the scoring of the match.
We pushed on, three super scores one after the other from Oisin, Aaron and Cian give us an early lead as the game approached the second quarter.
Ballymacnab scored a point  to get them off the mark. Two points in quick succession from the O’Neill Brothers, (1,F) stretched our lead but Ballymacnab responded, they scored 1-03 in the space of ten minutes to level matters and seconds remaining until the break Oisin slotted over a point just before the whistle was blew to put us ahead by the narrowest of margins.
Cross 0-08  Ballymacnab 1-04
A long range point from the boot of Rían shortly after the second half had commenced brought it back to a two point game. Three points a piece from each side, Paul Hughes, Daniel Cumiskey and Rain (F) our scorers and as the game entered the last quarter two points still separated the sides.
The final quarter saw us take control of the game, two points from Cian and one from Rian before Mel hit a super shot into the away sides net to give us a commanding lead with only minutes remaining.
Both sides traded points to bring the scoring of the day to a close
Cross 1-16  Ballymacnab 1-08

U18.5 Div 1 Playoff QF
Cross V Madden
It was a brilliant  all round team performance from our Minors against Madden on Monday night in the U18.5 div 1 playoff QF  which saw them advance to the semi final.
A strong first half performance which saw the boys quick off the blocks and create a strong lead early on which was never compromised.
The second half followed the same pattern as the first, they added to their tally to extend the lead and ran out winners on a score line of;
Cross 3-17 Madden 0-07
Well done lads and management.
