It has been a very busy weekend with our Senior’s having two fixtures over the weekend. Our Junior team , U6 and U10 ‘s were also in action.

SFL.

On Friday night our Senior’s travelled to Granemore for the first of their two league fixtures over the weekend .
It was Granemore who started off the brightest with three points on the scoreboard by the fifth minute.
We were awarded a penalty in the 7th minute but a save from the Granemore keeper meant it was the 10th minute before we registered our first score thanks to an Aaron Kernan point .
Points followed from Martin Aherne (3) and Oísín O’Neill (2) and that left us with a two point lead at the break , Cross 0-6 Granemore 0-4.Granemore opened the second half with two quick points but with Johnny Hanratty excelling in the middle of the field , we pushed on , points from Aaron Kernan (4) , Martin Aherne (2), Oísín O’Neill (2), Paul Hughes and Stephen Morris all helped to seal the victory and keep our unbeaten run alive in the league .

Cross V Sarsfields

On Sunday our seniors travelled to Sarsfields .
In blustery conditions we saw a highly entertaining , high scoring first half with some great scores from both sides . Goals from Rían O’Neill and Stephen Kernan just before the half time whistle give us a narrow lead of just 2 at the break .

Martin Aherne opened the scoring of the second half with a point , Sarsfields responded with a goal and point but we took control of the game and a superb second half team performance saw us score a total of 2-16 .

On Sunday , we played host to Belleeks in the next round of the Junior football league .

Training continues for our U6/U8’s on Friday evenings @6.30pm in the council field .

 

Gaeltacht .

Any registered club members who are attending a Gaeltacht this Summer and who wish to receive a small bursary towards their Gaeltacht fees , can register their interest by emailing our Irish Cultural Officer , Mrs Johanne Donnelly , [email protected] stating
which college and course they are attending .

 

Golf Classic.

On Thursday , 8th June we held a launch night for our Annual Golf Classic which will take place on 7th July 2017 in Concra Wood Golf Course , Castleblayney .
We are delighted to welcome our new sponsors , two local companies , Killycard Developments Ltd and Hanratty Oils .
