Crossmaglen Rangers Club Notes 13/01/20

Operation Transformation
For the third year running, we are delighted to be onboard with the GAA, Get Ireland Walking and RTÉ’s Operation transformation for Ireland Lights Up.
Despite the cold weather on Thursday night, one hundred and eighty people participated. Spirits where high, Santa had left fitbits  and they were put to the test!
Thanks to my right hand men, Larry and Gene and to our U13.5 and U11.5 teams and mentors who joined us.

We will do it all again on Thursday evening, 7-9pm, top field. Everyone welcome from the community and beyond, young and old. A short walk, a long walk or a run, every step counts! Please register on arrival.

Armagh LGFA
It was a busy day all round for the club on Saturday. As well as hosting the  AIB All Ireland Intermediate Semi Final, we also hosted the ArmaghLGFA pre-season fundamentals course. Well done to the 30 coaches who participated and good luck to all the clubs for the season
ahead.

Two club personnel will travel to Croke Park to attend the National Healthy Club Orientation Day on Saturday February 1st which will be the start of a two year healthy club journey.

Our club members are now selling The GAA National Draw tickets. There are super prizes to be won and we have added ten bonus prizes; vouchers for local businesses. Tickets cost €10 and the draw will take place on Thursday 12th March 2020. Please support the draw as all funds raised will be retained by the club.
Glasnevin Tour
I have organised a trip to Glasnevin cemetery on Easter Monday, 13th April. The bus will leave the Rangers Hall at 9.30am, coffee stop at Applegreen, Lusk and we will arrive in Glasnevin for our fully guided tour at 12pm. The tour we will take is the General History Tour which gives an overview of the history of Glasnevin cemetery and visits the graves of Ireland’s heroes including Daniel O’Connell, Mícheál Collins, Charles Stewart Parnell and Countess Markievicz.
The tour will last approximately ninety minutes and there will be free time afterwards to visit Glasnevin Cemetery’s museum. We will then travel to Malahide for a brief stop. On the way home we will stop at the Monsterboice Inn for tea.
The cost of the bus and tour is;
Adults/OAP; £25
OAP; £20

It was a highly entertaining sporting game of football. Commiserations to Mattock Rangers. The entire club wish Magheracloone Mitchells the very best of luck in the All Ireland Intermediate Final.
Huge thanks to Pearse Larkin for singing Amhrán na bhFiann, to the ladies who provided the refreshments, those who sold programmes & half time draw tickets, worked in the shop and last but not least our hardworking stewards. Club teamwork at its best!

Farm Families Health Check Van

Thanks to the ‘The Farm Families Health Check Van’ led by Christina who visited the Rangers Hall on Wednesday. Travelling to different locations across Northern Ireland, they provide a very informative service. There was a tremendous positive feedback from everyone who attended and we hope they will return to the Rangers Hall later in the year.
