Crossmaglen Rangers Club Notes 13/08/18

Crossmaglen  Rangers Summer Camp: In Association With Eugene Duffy Construction;

The club was busy this week as we hosted our annual Summer Scheme. The Camp was led by Tony McEntee, Oisín McConville, Jonny Savage, Stephen Kernan and Aveen Donaldson. One hundred and ninety five children took part from all corners of the Parish and beyond. We are very thankful that once again our Summer Camp was sponsored by Eugene Duffy construction. Thanks very much to Gene, Paul and the Duffy family for your sponsorship and ongoing support for the club.
Huge thanks to all our mentors and volunteers who took time out of their busy schedules to join us and who worked tirelessly throughout the week. A special mention for all our young Rangers who assisted at the Camp, your were all brilliant. Well done to the one hundred and ninety five children who took part, the future is bright and finally immense praise for our Leaders, who did a superb job which ensured all went smoothly and the children had a ball.

SFL Div 1A

Ballymacnab V Cross

Our last game in the Senior league saw us travel to Ballymacnab on Friday night. A win for Ballymacnab would see them crowned Armagh All County League Champions for the first time in their history.
Ollie Hearty was the man in the middle and seconds after he threw in the ball, we had got off to a dream start, Paudie Stuttard had the ball in the back of the nab net. The game was moving at a fast pace and this was how the entire game was played out. Two points, one after another left them trailing by just one before a point each from Tony and Aaron Kernan extended our lead. Some fine goalkeeping from Jamie McEvoy prevented Ballymacnab from closing the gap. Two points from each side and at the half way point of the first half the goal was the difference between the sides.
The next few minutes were evenly matched, each team scoring point for point. A Stephen Morris point with a little over five left to the break on the clock put us four in front but was quickly followed by a trio of nab points to leave one between the teams at half time;
Ballymacnab 0-09 Cross 1-07
We settled quickly and got the first two scores of the half but Ballymacnab responded firing over four points in the next ten minutes to give them the lead for the first time in the match. A Rían O’Neill point left it all square again and ensured we were in for an exciting finish. Jamie McEvoy was superb in those final minutes. Two points from Ballymacnab put them in a strong position as we entered the final minutes, a Stephen Morris point brought it back to one but Ballymacnab hung on to get across the line and see them crowded Armagh Senior Football league Champions. Great celebrations followed the final whistle. Congratulations and well done to Ballymacnab.
Ballymacnab 0-15 Cross 1-11
