Senior A League

Clann Éireann V Cross

The home side got off to a blistering start registering four points in the opening minutes(1F).
We capitalised on a bad kick out from the Clann Éireann goalie, Tony Kernan put the ball in the back of the Clan Eireann’s net to get our first score and leave only one between the sides. Clann Eireann responded imediately with a point to increase their narrow lead. Both sides exchanged scores both the result of frees, Miceal McCabe our scorer .
The next few minutes saw us having a better spell , three points in quick succession from the O’Neill brothers , Rían(2,1F) and an exhibition score from Oisín . As half time approached both sides scored two points each, Tony Kernan and Stephen Morris our point scorers to leave the score at the break;
Clann Eireann 0-08 Cross 1-07
The first ten minutes of the second half saw an even encounter, Clann Éireann scored three points(2,F) and we scored two, both coming from the boot of Rian O’Neill(1,’F,1’45) to leave us ahead by the bare minimum. We pushed on and some superb scores from Oisin(1) and Rían(2)which  strengthened our lead midway through the second half.
With thirteen left on the clock, referee Raymond Watters awarded us a penalty which Rían took superbly to give us our second goal of the match but Clann Éireann fought back, scoring four points in as many minutes to reduce the deficit to just a goal.
Points from Rían and Mickey McNamee in the dying minutes secured our lead and as the game hit the sixtieth minute Clann Éireann scored a point. As the game entered injury time, Clann Éireann were reduced to fourteen men after their number 8 received his second yellow card which was followed by a point from  Oisín and Rían to seal the victory.
Clann Éireann 0-16 Cross 2-16
