Huge congratulations to Rían O’Neill who has been awarded a 2019 Irish News All Star. Rían received his award at a gala event which was held in the Armagh City Hotel on Thursday night. Congratulations also Oisin McConville who received an award in recognition of the twentieth anniversary since he received the same accolade. A special mention for the star of the night, young Ryan McConville who accompanied his Dad to the star studded event and looked very sharp in his tuxedo.

Armagh U18.5 Championship SF

Cross V Killeavy
Sunday afternoon we travelled to Carrickcruppen for the semi final of the Minor Championship.
A slight drizzle left conditions slippy.
Jim Burns was the man in charge of proceedings.
It took both teams a while to settle and the first score of the game came in the eight minute when Killeavy slotted over a point.
Killeavy added a second as the game entered the second quarter. We had a number of missed opportunities before Tony O’Callaghan converted a free to give us our opening score. Points from Patsy Finnegan and Caolan Dooley were matched by the opposition and with minutes to go until the break, Killeavy led by the narrowest of margins. They pushed on scoring two points one after the other to stretch their lead to three before an Odhran Kieran narrowed the gap to two. Killeavy scored a point in injury time to leave the score at the midway point;
Cross 0-4 Killeavy 0-7
The start of the second half replicated the start of the match, it took a while before we had an opening score, a super point from Patsy Finnegan. Both sides traded points,  Patsy the scorer once more. As the game entered the last quarter, Odhran Kieran and Declan Stuttard scored a point each to leave the game all square.
This was to be short lived , Killeavy stepped up a gear, three points without reply and they were now in a commanding position with the finishing line in site. With five to go, Jim Burns deemed a foul was committed and awarded Killeavy a penalty. Stephen Morgan saved the penalty, three was still the margin. Killeavy added a point to their tally to put them four ahead. We had chances to narrow the gap but it wasn’t to be our day, Odhran Kieran slotted over a point in injury time to leave the score at full time;
Cross 0-9 Killeavy 0-12
Hard luck to the entire squad and management.
