Senior A League

Cross V Armagh Harps

On Friday night we welcomed Armagh Senior County champions, Armagh Harps to St Oliver Plunket Park.
A minutes silence for Benny & Anthony McKay, Louis O’Donnell and Martina Tormey preceded the throw in.
Armagh Harps got off to a blistering start registering a goal and a point in the opening minutes. We responded, a Kyle Carragher point got our scoring underway which was quickly followed by a super goal from the boot of Paudie Stuttard. Both sides exchanged points and with ten minutes gone on the clock it was all square. We edged in front , two points from Rain O’Neill (1,f) before our second goal came thanks to Mel Boyce. A fantastic pass from Micéal McCabe to Rían O’Neill who put the ball over the bar to strengthen our lead. Harps got a trio of points in as many minutes to reduce the deficit. As the game entered injury time, Paul McKeown kicked the ball into Rico Kelly who kicked the ball into the back of the Harps net just before the ref blew the whistle for half time. Half time score;

Cross 3-04 Armagh Harps 1-05

The second half started pretty much the same as the game had commenced, Harps scoring a goal and a point in the opening minutes but we stay composed and scored six points unanswered.
Harps got the next two points before a fantastic pass from Aaron Kernan to Rían O’Neill who hit a superb strike to give us our fourth goal and what had to be the score of the match. Immediately afterwards Harps scored a point.
As the game entered the final minutes some good goalkeeping from our number one, Jamie McEvoy prevented Harps from scoring and as the game came to a close, scores from two of our substitutes, brought the scoring to a close and we ran out winners on a scoreline of;

Cross 4-12 Armagh Harps 2-09

Well done lads and management.

The girls have now completed their programme to introduce them to Gaelic football. On Saturday, the squad travelled to Kileeshil in Tyrone, to take part in the Ulster blitz.
