Crossmaglen Rangers Club Notes 21/01/19

National Draw 
Our committee members are now selling the National Draw tickets. There are super prizes to be won and we have added four bonus prizes; a top of the range TV & three meals vouchers for local hotels. Tickets cost €10 and we need all tickets to be returned by the end of January. The draw will take place on Thursday 6th March 2019. Please support the draw as all funds raised will be retained by the club.

 

 

 

Operation Transformation 

 

Our involvement once again with Operation Transformation  ‘Ireland Lights Up’ began on Thursday night when 85 walkers/runners took to the walking track. It was great to see so many getting involved despite the bitterly cold weather. Remember everyone welcome, from the community and beyond, all ages and all abilities. We look forward to welcoming you all next Thursday for week two, 7pm-9pm, top field. Why is Crossmaglen Rangers Important ?

We provide sports facilities for everyone in Crossmaglen.

We support and manage 24 teams, both male and female of all ages.

We are central to our local community.

We strive to encourage and develop our children’s natural ability.

We have embarked on an education programme for our young people to help promote a healthier lifestyle. eg drug and  alcohol awareness, nutrition, etc.

We work hand in hand with all our local community groups.

Members of Cairde Raonaithe na Croise agree to contribute £20 per month over 3 years to help us make Crossmaglen better for our young people. In return we’ll play our part to acheive a better Crossmaglen. We think that’s a very good deal for everyone!

Registration Morning

A registration morning will take place on Sunday 10th February, 9.30am- 1.00pm. We are in the process of setting up a direct debit system, more details to follow in the coming weeks.

The online notes are posted every Sunday night on our website, on FB and Twitter.
Any business who would like to sponsor the online notes, please PM Cross Rangers or telephone 0876659126. Included in the notes will be the business’s logo/contact details. This is an ideal opportunity to promote your business and support the club.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Important information for all coaches and mentors:
Safeguarding training will take place on Friday 8th February, with registration between 7pm and 7.30pm.  The course will start promptly at 7.30pm.  All coaches and mentors involved with teams who have not done this training in the last three years are invited to attend.
Access NI vetting: 
Marion will be available in the Rangers Hall Monday from 7pm to 8pm to assist anyone with their Access NI vetting.  All coaches and mentors are reminded that this must be renewed every three years.  https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/campaigns/accessni-criminal-record-checks
Cross Square 100 17th February:
Last year the club launched this unique and fun event.  We are inviting all our members and supporters to come along on Sunday 17th February, and help us complete 100 laps of “the square”.    For those who count the kilometres 14 laps is approximately 5km, but remember this is a family event, where everyone can get involved, by walking, jogging or running a lap or two to get us to 100.
Crossmaglen LGFA AGM & Pre-season meeting:  The Ladies football committee would like to invite all players and parents to attend a pre-season meeting and AGM on  Friday 1st February.  Everyone interested in supporting the development of ladies football in our club is asked to attend.  The meeting will take place at 8pm, in the backroom of the hall.
U10 & U12 Girls football training:  Indoor training will resume on Monday 28th February, in St. Joseph’s Sports Hall, from 6pm to 7pm.  This year the U12 competition as be changed to U12 and a half, so all first year girls will be eligible to play in the U12 squad. Marion will send out the support rota in the next few days, and if any date doesn’t suit parents should make arrangements to swap with another parents.  Everyone is welcome to attend this training.
Crossmaglen Ladies 10th annual Pre-season 7s:  We are delighted to announce that our annual pre-season 7s will take place on Saturday 9th March 2019.  This event has grown in popularity and prestige over the last number of years, with teams travelling from far and wide to attend, so we are anticipating another fantastic event this year.  We will have more information on this in the coming weeks.

 

 

 

 

St Mungo’s Luganulk

 

Tickets are now on sale for St Mungo’s Luganulk 2 “The Umpire Strikes Back” which takes place in the Rangers Hall on Saturday 9th March. Tickets cost £15. Don’t miss out on what will be a fantastic nights craic!! Pm Cross Rangers or telephone 0876659126 for tickets.

Armagh V Cork, Allianz Division 2 National league fixture will take place in St Oliver Plunkett Park on  Sunday 24th March at 2pm.
Well Done
Well done to Lucy Duffy and the Our Lady’s U16 team who beat Coláiste Feirste, Belfast to reach the Ulster final on Wednesday where they play Ballyjamesduff, Co.Cavan. Good luck girls!

 

 

 

 

 

 

St Pats TOW recently competed in the Irish Indoor rowing championships held in Limerick.
Huge congratulations to our members,  Ciara Conway and Oliver Short who won Irish National Silver and Bronze Rowing titles while the entire St Pats club won 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 3 Bronze. St Pats competed with Olympians,  Paul O Donovan and Sanita Pursure, what a fantastic experience!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Darkness’s Into Light; Pieta House 

 

 

Preparations are in full swing for ‘Darkness Into Light’ 5km walk will take place in Crossmaglen on May 11th 2019. A launch night will take place on Friday 1st February in the Credit Union at 7.30pm. Registration online for the walk will open in a couple of weeks, more details to follow.
