Junior Football League

Cross V Forkhill

Well done to our junior team who won the junior league on Sunday after defeating Forkhill. By the first water break, we led by two.  We converted a ‘45 to extend the lead to three but Forkhill responded, three points one after anther and with less than ten minutes until the break, the game was all square. Two frees converted for us put us in front once more. A long range point from Stephen Sheridan meant the bare minimum separated the sides. Eoin Keenan slotted over a point form a free just before the half time whistle;

Cross 0-9 Forkhill 0-7

Two points a piece in the opening minutes of the half kept it a close game. Just before the final water break, we scored a point from play to push it to three for the final quarter. Just after the water break, a Caolan Dooley goal was followed by two Cross points without reply to put us firmly in the driving seat. Two points for Forkhill were added to the scoreboard and in the final minutes of the game, both sides traded points to leave the score at full time;

Cross 1-15 Forkhill 0-12

Good Luck

Good luck to our U19 team and management, Stephen, Jim & Francis, who play Madden on Friday night in the Athletic Grounds in the U19 Championship Final. This is an all ticket game and tickets are now on sale via the MyTicketApp.

U15
It was a mixed week for our U15 team. On Thursday night they contested the division 2 championship final. They were up against a strong Mullaghbawn side who for most of the game were very much in control but the lads never give up until the final whistle and just a goal was the difference at the end. Congratulations to Mullaghbawn.
On Saturday, neighbours, Silverbridge, were the opposition for the Feile Cup SF. Heavy rain left conditions extremely difficult. The visitors had a point on the board when the game was only seconds old but this was to be the only time they were in front, we settled quickly and had built up a considerable lead by the first quarter. Two goals and a point in quick succession from the bridge in the second quarter reduced the deficit and in the final minutes of the half, each side matched score for score to leave the score at the break;
Cross 3-7  Silverbridge 2-7
A Cael Caherty goal at the start of the second half extended our lead. Both sides traded points. Just after the water break, the Bridge scored their third goal and just a gaol separated the sides once more. Aaron Haughey converted a free followed quickly by a Malachy McCabe point to put five between the sides with less than ten to go. Silverbridge added another two points but we finished the scoring of the game with three points to leave the score at full time;
Cross 4-13  Silverbridge 3-10
Well done lads and management.
