Cross V  Ballyhegan

Ballyhegan got off to a great start with a penalty awarded in the first minute which they converted . The visitors scored another point before we registered our first score thanks to a Callum Cumiskey goal . We exchanged points before Ballyhegan got their second goal of the game and they pushed on scoring another goal just before the break giving them a significant lead at half time .
A keenly contested second half saw some fine scores from both sides , two goals thanks to Ronan Finnegan and Niall Keenan brought us right back into contention .The game went down to the wire where we had opportunities to level the match but Ballyhegan  held on and ran out winners by two points .

Community Clean Up
On Saturday 22nd July , a Community Cleanup took place . The event was spearheaded by our Men’s Senior squad and over one hundred volunteers from our U14’s upwards to our Senior teams helped out . We undertook a massive clean up on all roads leading into Crossmaglen and the town itself .
The event was hugely successful and it was a prime example of what community spirit is. It was fantastic to see so many people coming together , young and old looking after our community and taking pride in our area . As a result Cross and the surrounding areas are cleaner and are a more attractive place to live in .
Well done to everyone involved .

Drugs And Alcohol Awareness Programme .

As part of our ongoing drugs and alcohol awareness programme , we in partnership with The Magnet Centre and START 360 held a very informative evening on Wednesday .
It was primarily aimed at our Minor and U21 teams .
The evening provided information about support , awareness and preventative measures regarding the misuse of alcohol and drugs .
Many thanks to the representatives of the Magnet Centre ,  START 360, Dr Finbar Markey , Gamblers Anonymous and our own club personnel .

Aleks Stanek .
Alexs Stanek is a very talented artist from Poland who has resided in Ireland for a number of years.
She is going to run over 200 miles along the Irish border over a seven day period , 22nd-28th July .
During her run she will bury the rubble of Belfast brick and ash tree seeds at unmarked intersections .
The broken bricks symbolise the uncertainty faced by both Northern Irish industries and all of us who reside along the border following last years referendum .
Aleks will leave the Cross Square hotel on Friday , 28th July at 11am on what will be the seventh day of her gruelling trek .
Our local running group will run along side Aleks for some of her journey through South Armagh and any club members who wish to join in are very welcome .
We send our very best wishes and good luck to Aleks .
