Crossmaglen Rangers Club Notes 25/10/21
Armagh SFC SF
Cross V Silverbridge
A wet and extremely blustery Athletic Grounds was the venue for our Senior Championship SF clash against neighbours, Silverbridge. Kevin Faloon was the man in the middle. We played against a strong breeze in the first half and both sides struggled with the driving rain which left conditions extremely difficult. At the first water break, the Bridge led, 0-2 to 0-1, Stephen Morris our point scorer. The second quarter, both sides had missed opportunities. Silverbridge converted a free with minutes remaining until the break and as the half drew to a close, two points one after another for us, Cian and Rian (F) left the game all square at the break.
Cross 0-3 Silverbridge 0-3
We were quick off the mark as play resumed, three points in as many minutes, Oisin , Caolan and Rian to give us the lead. Silverbridge then scored a point, narrowing the gap to two. Both sides traded points, Cian and Paraic Keating for the Bridge. As we headed for the second water break, two was still the difference. A super pass from Tony Kernan to Stringer who blasted the goal into the Bridge net left the score at the second water break;
Cross 1-7 Silverbridge 0-5
We took control of the game in the last quarter, seven points without reply, Cian (4, 2F), Rian (2, 1F) and Oisin (1) to seal the victory, Silverbridge slotted over a point in injury time.
Cross 1-14 Silverbridge 0-6
Well done to the entire squad and management.
For the first time since 2002, both our Senior and Seconds teams will contest the Junior and Senior Championship Finals. We are calling on everyone to fly the black and amber and show our support for the lads. Flags and bunting will be on sale in Shorts.
Good Luck
Good luck to our Seconds team and management, who play Belleeks, in the Armagh Junior Football Championship Final. The game will be played in the Athletic Grounds next Sunday, throw in is 1.45pm.
