Crossmaglen Rangers Club Notes 27/09/21

Senior Football Championship
Cross V Madden

Athletic Grounds on Saturday evening was the setting for our first round of the championship against Madden. High drama in the opening minutes saw Madden score a goal and a point. A super strike from Rian was our opening score. A fantastic save from Tiarnan prevented Madden from registering their second goal. Rian converted two frees to leave just one between the sides. Two points one after another for Madden left the score at the first water break;
Cross 0-3 Madden 1-3

Both sides exchanged points before we had our best spell of the game thus far, three points without reply to leave the game all square with minutes remaining until the break. Madden edged it once more with a point from play. As the half drew to a close, two points from the boot of Ronan Fitzpatrick give us the advantage at half time.
Cross 0-9 Madden 1-5

Madden got the equaliser as play resumed, they added two more points without reply to give them a two point lead. Captain, Stephen Morris slotted over a long range point to narrow the gap, Rian converted a ‘45 and Oisin added a point to our tally. Just before the water break we were awarded a penalty which Rian struck superbly to put us in a good position as we entered the last quarter of the game. After the water break, Madden added a point to the scoreboard before a super pass from Odhran Kieran to Rian resulted in Rian’s second goal and sealed the victory for us. As the game entered injury time, Madden scored a point and we brought the scoring of the day with a close with three points in as minutes.

World Mental Day

World Mental Health Day 2021 is on the 10th October. We are delighted to work alongside Croke Park H&W being team and Irish Life in the launch of this well being initiative which all the family can get involved in and will run from the 10th October-30th October. I will post on social media when the registration opens.

Also, to coincide with World Mental Health Day, we are calling on all members and friends to ’Show One Act Of Kindness’ which will brighten someone’s day! It could be a phone call, a visit, our little ones could draw a picture or you could write a letter. I will share these ‘Acts Of Kindness’ on the 10th October.
