Rangers Progress To Ulster Club Semi Final

Crossmaglen Rangers v St Gall's - AIB GAA Football Ulster Club Senior Championship Quarter-FinalOur Senior team put in one of their most impressive displays of the year so far to overturn the reigning Ulster and All Ireland Champions, St Galls with 6 points to spare. Oisin McConville top scored with a tally of 1 – 06 to claim the man of the match award. Cross set down an early marker with Oisin on target with 1 – 05 in the first half, the goal coming from a penalty after David McKenna was fouled as he challenged for a high ball. David McKenna, Aaron Kernan and Michael McNamee also converted for Cross in the first half to leave Rangers comfortably ahead at the break on scoreline of 1 – 08 to St Gall’s 0 – 04. Both teams finished the half with 14 men as James Morgan and Karl Stewart were sent off in separate incidents. With a comfortable lead Cross were not as clinical in the second half and St Galls began to win more possession but failed to make it count on the scoreboard.  Two excellent saves from Paul Hearty, one from a penalty, kept Cross well ahead and second half points from Oisin McConville, Aaron Kernan, David McKenna and a trademark left footed effort from substitute John McEntee, making his comeback from retirement, sealed victory for Rangers. Cross also lost Johnny Hanratty to a harsh red card decision late into injury time. Next up is either Burren or Coleraine in the semi final in 2 weeks time.
