U14 Camogie Division 1 League Final
Our U14s took to the field on Saturday past in the hopes of adding a league title to their championship honours from earlier in the year. They faced a strong St. Brigid’s side, whom they knew would be tough opposition given their encounter earlier in the league. The girls gave a strong performance in the first half to leave a half time score of 2:05 to 0:03. The second half saw a determined effort from both squads, with St. Brigid’s coming out strong and leaving us leading by the narrowest of margins with approximately ten minutes to go – 3:05 to 3:04. Our girls were tenacious in their efforts and gave a superb performance in all areas of the pitch to finish with a winning scoreline of 3:10 to 3:04. This was a brilliant team performance and the best game of Camogie all year. Congratulations to the team and management on securing ‘the double’ and a hugely successful year.
Intermediate Championship Final Replay
On Saturday our seniors headed to Ballymacnab for the replay of this year’s Intermediate Championship Final, against Derrynoose. If the first encounter was anything to go by those attending were in for another great afternoon of Camogie. The first half saw our girls settle well and a goal from Megan O’Callaghan saw us leading 1:04 to 0:01, ten minutes in. Derrynoose notched up a few scores before half time to leave our girls going in 4 points up – 1;07 to 0:06. The second half performance was not for the faint hearted, whether you were a player or a supporter. The work rate on the pitch from both teams and the level of skill had everyone on the edge of their seat. Our girls battled tirelessly throughout the tough, physical encounter and their efforts were rewarded as after 35 minutes referee Philip Conway blew his whistle and we were crowned Intermediate Champions 2023 – 1:12 to 1:10. Congratulations to the team and management on a superb performance. Well done to Aislinn McMahon who was awarded Player of the Match. The girls now face the Tyrone champions in the Ulster Club Championship in two weeks time.
