Crossmaglen Rangers Club Notes 13/05/19

Armagh SFC A Rd 6
Cross V Dromintee
Sunday afternoon saw our seniors at home against Dromintee. A bright warm afternoon left conditions ideal for football. Raymond Watters was the man in charge of proceedings.
Dromintee were first to register a score on the scoreboard, a point which was quickly followed by a Miceal McCabe point to get us off the mark.
Both sides had missed chances before Dromintee scored a goal followed quickly by a point to put them in front with less than ten gone on the clock.
Our boys responded, three points without reply to bring it back to a one point game. Just past the midway  point of the half, the away side scored a point to put two in it once again, but points from Mel Boyce and Colin O’Connor levelled  matters as the minutes ticked down to the break. Dromintee brought the scoring of the half to a close with a point to leave the score at half time;
Cross 0-06 Dromintee 1-04
We opened the scoring of the half, two points in quick succession saw us take the lead for only a short period of time, a Dromintee point left it all square once again. As the game entered the final quarter we were in for an exciting finale and  It looked like a draw was on the cards. Some excellent goalkeeping from Stephen Morgan prevented the visitors from scoring. A super score from Oisin O’neill give us a narrow lead . We were awarded a free which Oisin converted to put us ahead by two and only minutes remaining.  Dromintee slotted over a point the result of a free just as normal time was nearly up. As the game entered injury time we held on to win on a score line of;
Cross 0-11 Dromintee 1-07
Well done lads and management

U12 Jersey Launch
On Sunday morning our U12 squad along with mentors and families headed for Slieve Gullion for a team building event. Many thanks to Noel Martin and John McShane , our guides for all their support, help and above all encouragement, some of us needed it more than others!
It was fantastic to raise the Rangers flag on the top  of Slieve Gullion. Thanks very much to Centra, Crossmaglen who sponsored the refreshments, it was much appreciated especially on the climb up when refuelling was urgently needed.
On our return to the Rangers Hall we held our jersey launch with our new U12 main sponsor Bellew electrical.
Huge thanks to Miceal and the Bellew family for their generous sponsorship and support. Thanks also Martin Hardware for their sponsorship.
Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh
We are super excited that Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh will visit the Rangers hall this Thursday.
Mícheál will speak about his amazing journey through life, the people he has met, the problems he has encountered and overcome and despite being aged 88, his calendar is always full.
There will also be an opportunity for questions and answers.
We will hold a raffle on the night
First prize; Signed Ireland Jersey. Many thanks to Joe Kernan for donating the jersey.
Second Prize; A Kerry Jersey signed by Mícheál.
Third Prize; A signed copy of Mícheál’s book.
All proceeds from the raffle will go to the Camogie Feile All Ireland Fund.
The evening will kick off at 7.30pm, free admission, tea will be served and everyone from near and far are very welcome to attend.

Darkness Into Light
We were honoured and proud to have been part of Crossmaglen Darkness Into Light which took place on Saturday morning. This was the first time Darkness Into Light took place in Crossmaglen and what a tremendous success it was. A superb one thousand and two people were registered and they walked and ran the 5km route which took the walkers past the Rangers Hall, ( Dundalk Rd), over the Alley Rd and back in the Monug road.
Thanks to Tony for leading the warm up and to Olive for joining us. Thanks also to Donal and Raymond for stewarding the Rangers Car Park and finally huge thanks to the organising committee for asking us to come on board in the organising and participation of this amazing event and we look forward to 2020 Crossmaglen Darkness Into Light.
Well Done
