Junior Football Championship

On Sunday night , our Junior team played their first game in the Junior Armagh Championship. Their opponents were An Port Mór and the venue was Abbey Park , Armagh . Ronan Finnegan opened the scoring for us , a point in the opening minutes of the game . John  Murtagh got the next two scores , both points converted from frees . Points from both sides , John Murtagh (1) and Cormac Clarke (2) kept the game close before in the 21st minute we were awarded a penalty , a superb strike from John Murtagh into the back of the An Port Mór net stretched our lead to 5 . In the closing minutes of the first half  Micéal Traynor  was pulled down which saw us awarded our second penalty which John Murtagh scored giving us our second goal , An Port Mór got three more points which reduced our lead at the break . Cormac Donnelly got his name on the scoresheet at the start of the second half, followed by points from John Murtagh and Ronan Finnegan . We were reduced to fourteen men midway through the second half . An Port Mór took control  , scoring eight points in the next ten minutes giving them the lead by  2 points . The last ten minutes saw a highly entertaining and exciting finale to the game , An Port Mór failed to score again but points from John Murtagh(3) and Ronan Finnegan (1) got us across the finishing line . Well done to all the squad and management .

Cross 2-13   An Port Mór 0-17

U16 Div 1 Championship Semi Final
On Friday night our U16’s travelled to Dorsey to face Granemore in the semi final of U16 Division 1 Championship .
It was Granemore who were first on the scoreboard with a point in the opening minute but a free for us which Dara O’Callaghan converted got us off the mark , James Teelan got a point before our first goal of the match came thanks to a superb Daíre O’Callaghan shot. We exchanged points with Granemore ( Oisín Doyle , Patsy Finnegan and James Teelan)
A great goal from Liam Finnegan and a point from Daíre O’Callaghan in the closing minutes of the first half give us a commanding lead at the break .
Granemore opened the scoring in the second half but we took control, scoring an impressive 1-11 in the second half , Eoin Kerley the scorer of our third goal in the last few minutes of the match . An all round good team performance helped us book our spot in the final
Well done lads and management .
