Crossmaglen Rangers Club Notes 11/11/19

Crossmaglen Rangers Spinathon

Pic Below; Leader kieran McShane & his team

A wet Saturday morning didn’t dampen spirits as the club Spinathon spun off at 8am.
Things may of been bleak outside but they were roasting hot inside.
Owen Martin was the first leader at the helm followed at hourly intervals by Seamie Mullen, Aidan Short, Aveen Donaldson Bellew, Patrick Sha McEneaney, Donal Quinn,
Sarah Armstrong, Paul McEntee, Kieran McShane, Patrica McEvoy and Aaron Kernan. Each leader put their army through their paces, super tunes playing and plenty of craic was the order of the day.
We were overwhelmed by the generosity and support we received, thank you so much to each and everyone of you. This support ensured the day was a tremendous success.
Kieran McShane, Mc’s Groceery & Coffee Dock refuelled the workers with coffee, thanks kieran.
To everyone who helped out throughout the day, we send our sincere thanks and we look forward to doing it all again.

Armagh U21 Championship

Clann Éireann V Cross
On Sunday we travelled to Lurgan to play Clann Eireann in the Armagh U21 championship.
From the outset the home side were in control, 1-2 registered before we got our opening score, a point result of a free converted. Both sides traded points, and as the game entered the second quarter we trailed by four.
Two points in quick succession, Daniel Cumiskey & Dara O’Callaghan to reduce the deficit.
As the minutes ticked down to the break, Clann Eireann went on another scoring spree, 1-2 again to extend their lead. A Rian point was followed by a Clann Eireann point to leave the score at the break;
Clann Eireann 2-06 Cross 0-06
Clann Eireann opened the scoring of the half with a point. Again each team traded points.
A Rian O’Neill point preceded the Lurgan boys third goal and with eleven to go, we had it all to do.
Cían scored a point but again Clann  Eireann responded with two points to keep their lead firmly in tact.
The final minutes saw plenty of drama and our best scoring period, two goals one after one another, Rian and Daire O’Callaghan  the scorers. A Declan Stuttard point brought the scoring to a close .
Clann Eireann 3-10 Cross 2-10
Hard luck lads and management.
We now exit the competition on score difference, Mullaghbawn will go forward to the semi final.
