U16 Division 1 Championship Quarter Final

Cross V Clan na Gael
Our U16’s had an early start on Sunday. Their quarter final championship game kicked off at midday with conditions in St Oliver Plunkett Park gloriously sunny and hot.

We were quick off the mark, registering 1-04 in the opening team minutes, Caolan Finnegan our goal scorer. Cross pushed on scoring another two points before Clan na Gael got their opening score. Owen Reel blew the whistle to stop the game briefly to allow the boys get some water .
As the first half entered the final minutes , Cross increased their lead by 1-02 , the goal from the boot of Thomas Óg Duffy after a rasper of a shot into the Clans net.
Clan na Gael got their second point before two quick points from Cross just at the halfway point left the score at half time;
Cross 2-11 Clan na Gael 0-02
The second half started similar to how the game had commenced, Cross adding 2-04 in the opening ten minutes , James Teelan the scorer of the two goals. Clans registered a point.
Three more points were added to the scoreboard, two for us and one for Clans.
With less than ten on the clock, Ronan McAllister scored our fifth goal quickly followed by a point from James Teelan. As the game drew to a close , Clan na Gael got the last score of the game, a point.
Final scoreline;
Cross 5-18 Clan na Gael 0-05
Well done lads and management. The boys now progress to the semi final of the championship.

Many thanks to Noreen O’Callaghan for the super shots from today’s U16 Championship game.
