JFC Semi Final

Cross V Thomas’ Davis

On Sunday our junior team played Thomas Davis’ in the semi final of the Junior Football Championship.
Silverbridge was the venue and conditions were ideal for football.
Thomas Davis’ opened the scoring in the third minute with a point . It took a while for us to settle , a sideline free for us which John Murtagh converted got us off the mark. Thomas Davis’ registered three points in as many minutes to put them in the lead .
Two Cormac Clarke points for us , one from a free reduced the lead to the bare minimum. Thomas Davis’ scored a point minutes before a great pass from Micéal Trainor to Eoin Keenan who put the ball in the back of the Davis’ net and put us in the lead for the first time . Cormac Donnelly got his name on the scoresheet with a point and as the game entered injury time we exchanged points , ours coming thanks to John Murtagh.
At half time we led by two .
Thomas Davis started the second half brightest , two points in the opening minutes left the game level . Aaron Smylie fisted the ball over the bar to regain the lead for us but Thomas Davis’ pushed on , scoring three more points before we got our second score of the second half , a sideline free which John Murtagh scored to leave one between the sides with ten minutes to go . In an exciting finale , scores from John Murtagh and Micéal Trainor kept us in contention , Thomas Davis’ responded with two points and as the game drew to a close , Thomas Davis’ scored another point to seal the victory .
Cross 1-09 Thomas’ Davis 0-14 .
Hard luck lads and management .

Meningitis Awareness Morning
Ruairi O’Neill and his family hosted a meningitis awareness morning in the Rangers Hall on Sunday.
It was fantastic to see such a marvellous crowd at the awareness morning , community spirit at its best .
Meningitis has affected so many lives and families and the awareness morning was an excellent initiative which raised awareness about this deadly disease . During the morning , Ruairi spoke about his own personal experience and his subsequent recovery. Sínead McMurray from Meningitis Research Foundation was also in attendance sharing information about the signs and symptoms of Meningitis .
Well done Ruairi and all the O’Neill family .
