Crossmaglen Rangers Club Notes 27/11/17

Paul McGirr U16 Ulster Club Champions Tournament Final
Cross V Kilcoo  , Dromore .

Kilcoo were first off the mark when they converted a free in the opening minute to get the scoring underway . Points from James Teelan and Liam Og Finnegan give us the lead . Kilcoo stepped up a gear and in the eleventh minute they got their first goal . A Shane Morgan point kept us in touch but Kilcoo responded immediately getting their second goal just past the halfway stage of the first half . Both sides got a point each and in the final minutes of the first half we scored a point before we dealt another hard blow , Kilcoo got their third goal at the end of the first half . Kilcoo came out the second half , again the stronger side . They started the scoring when the second half was only seconds old , their lead now firmly secured . We tried hard but it wasn’t to be our day. Hard luck lads and management . We are all very proud of the entire team and management.

Kilcoo 3-08  Cross 0-09

U21 Championship Group A Semi Final

Cross V Dromintee , Mullaghbawn  .
Mullaghbawn was the setting for our semi final clash with Dromintee in the U21 championship .
The game was just underway when points from Oisín O’Neill , Micéal McCabe and Stephen Morris give us an early lead. Dromintee opened their scoring with a goal in the fourth minute to level matters and a free for Dromintee which they converted put them in front for the first time.
Full back Shane Farrelley made a fantastic save to stop the opposition getting their second goal . A scramble for the ball by both sides in the 10th  minute saw Colin O’Connor get the ball into the back of the Dromintee net and edged us in front once more.
A superb point from Micéal McCabe halfway through the first half strengthened our lead . Both sides scored two points each before the break, Colin O’Connor and Oisín O’Neill the scorers for us which left us leading by 1-07 to 1-03 as the half time whistle blew .
A sizzling second display by us where an all round team performance secured the victory .
Points from Oisín O’Neill , Stephen Morris and Micéal McCabe in the opening three minutes of the second half started our scoring spree . Rían O’Neill , Daniel Cumiskey and Callum Kieran got the next trio of points . Great defensive display meant our strong lead wasn’t compromised . A Colin O’Connor point added to the tally and half way though the second half Oisín O’Neill got our second goal followed by a Cormac Donnelly point . Dromintee scored two points in quick succession to reduce the deficit . We pushed on and in the last ten minutes , Daniel Cumiskey scored his second point before Cían McConville scored our third goal of the game . As the game drew to a close , we finished our scoring spree with points from Cían MCConville , Oisín O’Neill (2) and Daniel Cunningham .
Cross 3-20  Dromintee  1-05
