Armagh U17 Championship SF
Cross V Clann Eireann
We welcomed Clann Eireann to St Oliver Plunkett Park on Saturday evening for the Armagh U17 Championship SF. A minutes silence was observed for the late Gerard Devlin and Eugene Ryan who both passed away during the week.
We settled quickly into the game, 1-2 on the scoreboard (the goal the result of a penalty awarded which Ronan Fitzpatrick scored) before the Lurgan boys got their opening score in the eleventh minute. Points from Dara O’Neill and Caolan Finnegan stretched our lead and at the first water break we were in a comfortable position. As play resumed, Clann Eireann scored three points without reply to reduce our lead. With minutes remaining until half time, a super strike from the boot of Caolan Finnegan landed in the Clann Eireann net to give us our second goal of the evening. As the game entered injury time, Clann Eireann scored a goal but seconds later, we replicated this, a great ball from Shane Gallagher to Dara O’Neill resulted in our third goal. A Clann Eireann point brought the scoring of the half to a close to leave the score at the break;
Cross 3-4 Clann Eireann 1-5
Clann Eireann opened the scoring of the second half, two points, one from a free converted . A Bernard Cassidy triggered a scoring spree for us, 1-5 scored, substitute Aaron O’Neill the goalscorer, and as the game entered the last quarter, we were in a commanding position. We scored a further 1-3 in those final minutes, Ronan registering his second goal, Clann Eireann scored two points.
Cross 5-13 Clann Eireann 1-09

Crossmaglen LGFA Notes
‘Winner Winner, Pizza & Ice-Cream for Dinner’ that was the order of the day for the U16.5 quad who won their Championship Final
on Sunday evening.
Led by Captain Coaimhe Dooley, the U16.5 took on Armagh Harps in the Division 2 county final. From the start Cross dominated play, making sure every pass found an amber and black jersey. The score line was opened by Claragh Lenaghan, with a point, closely followed by Lucy Duffy, who scored two points from consecutive frees. Eva Cassidy joined the score card with a goal. While Armagh Harps knocked over a point. At half time it was
2.06 to 0.02.
Cross knew the second half would not be easy, and Armagh Harps began to rally after a goal rattled the net. Cross had to up their game, and they all dig deep. Defending hard and moving to take their scores. The final score was
4.12 to 2.05.
The players enjoys a socially distanced celebration, big thank you to Nanna Hughes and Valuland for the pizza and ice cream.
