Crossmaglen Rangers Club Notes 10/05/21

2020 U15 Championship SF

Cross V Clann Eireann

Abbey Park, Armagh was the venue for the 2020 U15 Championship SF. The opening quarter was an even affair, each side matching score for score. The second quarter saw us have our best spell of the match, 1-4 scored, (Aaron  Haughey the goal scorer) to three points from Clann Eireann to leave the score at the break;

Cross 1-8 Clan Eireann 0-7

The lurgan  boys settled quickly after the break, 1-2 registered on the scoreboard before we got our opening score, a point and  Clann Eireann led by the narrowest of margins for the first time in the match. Aaron O’Neill converted a free to level matters before Clann Eireann went on a scoring spree, four points without reply and they were in a commanding position with ten to go. Two points for us reduced the deficit but with the finishing line in sight line, Clann Eireann pushed on, three points one after another and they booked their place in the final. Hard luck lads on what was a tough battle.

Cross 1-12 Clann Eireann 1-16

Team News!
Under 10.5s- This group is for P/R3 to P/R5, the focus is on fun, and building confidence with the ball. Training is every Monday 6pm-7.15pm, on Pairc Na Og. We are working hard to arrange some games in the next few weeks, and we know the girls are looking forward to this.

Our U12.5 squad of 2020 took the field against Mullabrack today. It was always going to be a hard fought match, and while our girls did us proud, Mullabrack came away with the win. And so we go again, playing Mullaghbawn in the U12.5 league next Sunday. More info to follow.
Under 14.5 & 16.5- This session is for all secondary school players. Training is every Wednesday  6pm-7.15pm, on Pairc Na Og and Saturday 4-5.30pm on the Back Field.
These teams are both preparing for the first league fixture. U14.5 will take on Silverbridge on Thursday. While the U16.5 also meet Silverbridge on Monday 17th. Good luck to the team and management.
Seniors– There are three sessions per week for our senior crew. They are training at Monday 8pm; Thursday 8pm and Saturday 6pm. For more information contact Maria or Peter.
Our senior squad were promoted to Division 1 at the end of last season. This is a big step up for a young team, but a challenge which will strengthen our club’s development.  The league commenced on Saturday 8th May, meeting Shane O’Neill’s. The girls worked hard to contest the game, but Shane’s have the shooting power and the goals won in the end. Next week they take in Armagh Harps, at home. Good luck to the entire squad.
A reminder that all players must be registered with the LGFA, in order to train or play. If you are unsure how to do this, just contact a coach or committee member.
