Crossmaglen Rangers Club Notes 10/10/22

Armagh SFC SF

Cross V Maghery

All roads led to the Athletic Grounds on Friday night for our championship semi final game against Maghery. Conditions were very slippy following rain earlier in the day and this was evident not long after the ball was thrown in, a back pass to the Maghery goalie who lost his footing and the ball rolled into the net to give as an early lead and the game only seconds old. We dominated the first quarter, eight points without reply, six from play and two scores from a mark, Aaron, Stephen,  Caolan (2) Jamie (2) Ronan  & Rian.  Maghery’s opening score came in the eighteenth minute, a point from a free converted. As the minutes ticked down to the break, Rian slotted over a free and Maghery added two points to the board (1F) to leave the score at half time:

Cross 1-9  Maghery 0-3

We started the second half similar to how the game had commenced, scores registered quickly, three points from play, Jamie & Cian (2). Seconds later, the opposite end of the field, Ronan Lappin scored a goal for Maghery to reduce the deficit. Two points a piece for each team all from play, (Ronan & Cian) and as the game entered the last fifteen minutes, we led by nine. The last quarter, again, we were firmly in charge, Rian converted a free and a goal each for Ronan & Cian,  both super strikes, to a point for Maghery.

Cross 3-15  Maghery 1-6
