Crossmaglen Rangers Club Notes 24/08/20
Armagh Junior Football Championship QF
Cross V Derrynoose
The Athletic Grounds in Armagh was the setting for our Armagh junior football championship quarter final clash against Derrynoose. The opening minutes saw the opposition awarded a penalty which they scored and this set the pattern for the rest of the game, they never relinquished their lead. Our opening score didn’t come until the second quarter, a point from Shane McConville, Derrynoose had registered 1-2 on the scoreboard at this stage. Derrynoose continued on the scoring spree as half time approached, 1-2 without reply. Just before the half time whistle, Ruairi O’Neill scored a goal to leave the score at the break;
Cross 1-1 Derrynoose 2-4
The second half started as the game had commenced, Derrynoose had the ball in the back of our net when the half was seconds old to put them in a commanding position and they dominated the second half to book a place in the semi finals.
Cross 1-05 Derrynoose 3-12
Hard luck lads and management. Many thanks to Savages Bakery for the refreshments, Patrick @Egg for his continued support and Margaret for the tea!

Cross V Killeavy
Sunday we travelled to Killeavy for our round four fixture of the Armagh senior league. It will be the same pairing in a week’s time in the Athletic Grounds for the semi final of the Armagh senior football championship. The first half was a close tense encounter, not much between the sides, Mel scoring 1-1, Paul Hughes the other goal scorer and a point from Callum Cumiskey, Killeavy scoring 1-5 to leave just the bare minimum between the sides at the mid way point;
Killeavy 1-05 Cross 2-3
Mel’s second goal at the beginning of the second half give us a comfortable lead. Each side traded points before we had our best spell of the match, four points added to the scoreboard and with the finishing line in sight, we were firmly in the driving seat. The home side converted a free before points from the Cumiskey Brothers’ and Colin O’Connor put the game fairly out of the reach of Killeavy. As the game drew to a close, Killeavy slotted over two points, points from Paudie and Mel (2) brought the scoring of the afternoon to a close;
Killeavy 1-9 Cross 3-13
Well done! Good luck team/management next weekend.
