Armagh SFL Rd 13
Cullyhanna V Cross
Wednesday night our Seniors travelled to Cullyhanna for their fixture in the Armagh senior league.
Jim Slevin was the man in the middle. A warm sunny evening left conditions ideal for football.
Mel Boyce opened the scoring in the first minute with a super point to get us off the mark.
Less than a minute later, high drama ensued the referee noticed a foul committed and as a result, Cullyhanna were awarded a penalty which they struck well to give them an early lead in the opening minutes.
The flowing minutes of the game saw a period where both sides had a number of missed opportunities. Two points from Cian (1,F) and one from Rían and with fifteen gone on the clock we had regained the lead for only a short period of time, a long range point from Cullyhanna equalised the match.
Rían stepped up to take a free along the sideline which sailed over the bar in what was to be the score of the match.
We finished the half strong, four points without reply, Clan (2), Rían and Oisin to give us a comfortable lead. Cullyhanna scored a point as the game entered injury time to leave the score at the break;
Cullyhanna 1-02 Cross 0-09
Cullyhanna got off to a blistering start at the beginning of the second half, four points one after another, (1,F) to leave the game all square with five minutes played. Both sides traded points before Cullyhanna registered two points on the scoreboard to edge them in front, points from Oisin and Stephen levelled it once again as the game entered the last quarter.
Rían converted a free, his fourth point of the match to give us the advantage once more.
A Johnny McKeever point stretched the lead to two before Cullyhanna slotted over a point from a free to bring the game back to the bare minimum once more with only minutes remaining until the full time whistle.
With the finishing line in sight, we stepped up a gear, three points without reply to seal the victory in what was a very exciting and competitive game
Cullyhanna 1-10 Cross 0-17
Well done lads and management.
Páirc na nÓg, Raonaithe na Croise
After all the hard work and commitment by our volunteers who worked tirelessly this past few months to have the former council field and changing rooms looking immaculate and in pristine condition, it all came to fruition on Sunday when Páirc na Raonaithe Óga was officially opened by Uachtarán Comhairle Uladh, Oliver Galligan.
Páirc na Raonaithe Óga is dedicated to the youth of Crossmaglen Rangers and we will continue our work in developing facilities and promoting the well being of the young people of Crossmaglen Rangers. A plaque was unveiled by Uachtarán Comhairle Uladh, Oliver Galligan unveiling the club’s motto
“Mól an óige agus tiocfaidh sí “nurture youth and it will flourish”.
Páirc na Raonaithe Óga will be under the auspices of Crossmaglen Rangers and Cumann Lúthchleas Gael and vested in the GAA.
We thank Uachtarán Comhairle Uladh, Oliver Galligan for taking time out of his busy schedule to join us on Sunday and officially open Páirc na Raonaithe Óga.
