Crossmaglen Rangers Club Notes 03/12/18

FonaCAB Ulster Minor QF

Cross V Derrygonnelly Harps

Colaiste Feirste was the setting for our fonaCAB Ulster Minor QF clash with Derrygonnelly Harps. The Fermanagh men were quick off the mark, midfielder Ronan McHugh slotting the ball over the bar when the game was only seconds old.
Four scores in quick succession,  a trio for Cian (1,F) and one for James Teelan put us ahead by three with ten gone on the clock.
Some super catches from Shane Morgan ensured the ball was in plenty of supply for our forwards. Three more points from us, James and two for Cían (1,F) meant at the midway point of the first half we had a comfortable lead. Derrygonnelly responded with three unanswered points to reduce the deficit. Both sides had a number of missed opportunities as the half drew to a close and at the halfway point of the match two was the difference between the teams;
Cross 0-7  Derrygonnelly 0-5
We got off to a dream start seconds after the ball had been thrown in to get the second half underway, a super catch from Shane Morgan was placed to Cían who passed to Dara O’Callaghan who fisted the ball into the oppositions net to put us in a commanding position.
As the game entered the last quarter, Derrygonnelly registered a point on the scoreboard but we pushed on, the scores of the match coming in those final minutes, James Teelan (1), Oisín Doyle (3,1F) and Odhran Kieran (1)  helped to secure our lead and we ran out winners on a scoreline of;
Cross 1-12 Derrygonnelly 0-6
